Yes. All three investment options meet or exceed the USD 300,000 minimum investment threshold required for the Panama Qualified Investor Program, making all of them eligible for permanent residency from day one.
With co-ownership (Option 1), multiple investors collectively own the hotel and casino operation. There are no annual rental returns, but you receive a guaranteed buyback after 5 years and one week of complimentary stays per year. With individual ownership (Options 2 and 3), you hold your own title deed to a specific unit, receive rental income, and can sell independently after the 5-year holding period.
Option 2 (Hotel Suites, Individual Ownership) offers the highest estimated return, stabilising at around 7%, with a 60/40 rental split between owner and operator. Option 3 (The Signature at Santa Maria) offers a steadier 4–5% annual ROI with 4% capital appreciation, and suits investors who want a residential property with more flexibility over rental management.
Your permanent residency remains fully intact. Panama's permanent residency is not contingent on continuing to hold the property after the 5-year period. You may sell freely and your residency — and eligibility for citizenship — is unaffected.
Yes. Your spouse, dependent children (including students and dependants over 18), and your own dependent parents can all be included as part of the same application. Note that your spouse's parents are not eligible under the programme.
Typically 30–60 days from the date of submission. The entire process can be handled remotely — you only need to travel to Panama once, after approval, for a brief biometrics appointment. One to two days in Panama is sufficient.
No. You are only required to visit Panama once every two years to maintain your permanent residency. This minimal presence requirement also counts toward citizenship eligibility at the 5-year mark.
Panama operates a territorial tax system — income earned outside of Panama is not subject to Panamanian tax. Rental income from Panamanian property is subject to local tax. We always recommend independent tax advice tailored to your situation.
